This policy explains what NZO collects, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have. NZO is operated by Nutrons and shares a single account with Nutrons (see Section 5).
1. What We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you use email/password authentication, a hashed version of your password. We never store plaintext passwords.
If you sign in with Google, we receive the basic profile information Google shares with us — usually your name, email address, and profile photo if available. We use that information only to authenticate you and maintain your account.
We collect the profile information you add, such as your display name, age, cooking skill level, cuisine preferences, and dietary restrictions. Dietary restrictions may reveal sensitive information, and we handle them as described in Section 3.
We collect the cooking content you create in NZO: recipes you import or write (including titles, recipe contents, and photos or thumbnails), pantry and kitchen details you enter, and cooking-session activity such as progress, status, timestamps, and how often you cook a recipe.
When you use the voice assistant, we capture microphone audio while it is active so the assistant can understand and respond to you during cooking. We also maintain a personalisation record (“memory”) that stores context about your preferences to tailor recipes and guidance.
We collect feedback messages you send, together with your email address so we can respond. Like most services, we automatically receive limited technical data such as your IP address, page views, feature usage, device and browser information, and session activity so the app can function and we can understand aggregate usage.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and secure your account
- Authenticate you, including through Google sign-in
- Digitise recipes, plan meals, and provide guided and voice-assisted cooking
- Personalise recipes and guidance based on your preferences, skill level, and dietary restrictions
- Understand how people use NZO and improve the product
- Respond to feedback, bug reports, and support requests
- Monitor abuse and keep the service reliable
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal data. We also do not use Google account data for advertising or unrelated purposes.
3. Dietary Restrictions and Sensitive Data
Dietary restrictions you choose to record may reveal sensitive information, such as a health condition or a religious belief. We process this information only with your consent and only to personalise and filter recipes and guidance for you.
Providing dietary restrictions is optional. You can change or remove them at any time in your profile settings, and you can withdraw consent by deleting them. Recording a restriction does not guarantee that any recipe is free from the relevant ingredient — always check ingredients yourself if you have an allergy or intolerance.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate NZO:
- Supabase — authentication, database, storage, and session management
- Google — authentication when you choose Sign in with Google, and Gemini (including live audio) for recipe digitisation, planning, and the voice assistant
- ElevenLabs — voice synthesis for the cooking assistant
- Vercel — hosting and analytics
When you use the voice assistant, microphone audio is streamed to Google to power live guidance. These services process data necessary for the relevant feature under their own policies and terms, so we encourage you to review those documents as well.
5. One Account Across NZO and Nutrons
NZO and Nutrons share a single account, sign-in, and profile. Your account and profile data are linked to the same identity across both services, so activity and preferences may be associated with you in both.
Because there is one account, deleting your account from either service deletes it from both. The Nutrons privacy policy also applies to that shared account and is available at nutrons.ai/privacy.
6. Cookies and Session Data
We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for sign-in, session management, and security. If you disable them, parts of NZO may not work correctly.
We do not use advertising cookies.
7. Sharing and Legal Disclosures
We share information with the service providers listed above only as needed to run NZO. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition.
We do not sell your personal data.
8. Your Rights and Choices
You can update some of your account details in Settings, and you can delete your account from the Settings page or by contacting us at nutrons.ai@gmail.com. Deleting your account removes it from both NZO and Nutrons.
If you are located in the UK or EU/EEA, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy law, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent to processing of sensitive data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at nutrons.ai@gmail.com.
If you are in the UK and believe we have not handled your personal data lawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
9. Data Retention
We keep account data while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymise the personal data we control within a reasonable period, except where we need to retain certain records for legal, security, backup, or accounting purposes.
Aggregated or anonymised usage data may be retained after account deletion.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will indicate the date of the most recent update at the top of this page. Continued use of NZO after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
